Position Overview

IntelliTech is seeking an AI / Data Automation Specialist to support the DHA Data Governance program by designing, prototyping, and implementing AI-enabled automation capabilities that improve metadata management, data lineage, data quality, and self-service data discovery across enterprise data assets.

This role is focused on the practical application of AI and automation—including NLP, semantic search, workflow automation, and metadata enrichment—to improve governance workflows within DHA-approved tools, security boundaries, and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate brings a blend of software/data engineering experience, hands-on automation skills, and working knowledge of applied AI use cases in enterprise environments.

This individual will work closely with data governance leads, data engineers, and platform teams to evaluate the AI readiness of COTS tools, develop proofs of concept, and transition successful automation patterns into repeatable, operational workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate COTS data governance, catalog, and analytics platforms for AI readiness, including semantic search, automated lineage generation, metadata enrichment, and AI-assisted data quality capabilities.
  • Design, build, and demonstrate AI-enabled prototypes and proofs of concept using Python, SQL, and related tools to support DHA data governance objectives.
  • Apply approved enterprise AI platforms and services to test metadata extraction, classification, semantic tagging, summarization, and lineage inference use cases.
  • Design and implement automated workflows for metadata review, approval, publication, and governance enforcement.
  • Configure and prototype data quality monitoring solutions, including AI-assisted anomaly detection, semantic validation, and alerting.
  • Develop search, discovery, and lightweight dashboard capabilities that improve self-service access to governed data assets.
  • Support user acceptance testing and validation of AI-enabled governance capabilities with DHA stakeholders.
  • Advise governance and platform teams on future automation opportunities related to metadata capture, lineage, data quality, and governance enforcement.
  • Integrate workflow automation tools such as Power Automate, Step Functions, Airflow, or equivalent technologies for triggers, notifications, approvals, and alerts.
  • Optimize existing ingestion, synchronization, and automation scripts for performance, scalability, and reliability, including AI-assisted normalization where appropriate.
  • Support pilot demonstrations that showcase end-to-end traceability, governance visibility, and AI-assisted lineage techniques.
  • Assist in automating versioning, SLA monitoring, governance metrics, and compliance-related workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, automation engineering, or ML-adjacent technical roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL.
  • Experience building automation scripts, workflows, or pipelines in enterprise data environments.
  • Working knowledge of applied AI/ML concepts such as NLP, semantic search, embeddings, classification, summarization, and inference.
  • Experience evaluating, integrating, or configuring COTS platforms and enterprise data tools.
  • Understanding of core data governance concepts, including metadata, lineage, data quality, data publishing, and stewardship workflows.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to non-technical, functional, and governance-focused stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal health, defense, or other regulated environments, including DHA, DoD, or HHS.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based AI services and managed GenAI platforms approved for government use.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration and automation tools such as Power Automate, Step Functions, Airflow, or similar platforms.
  • Exposure to data catalogs, metadata platforms, or governance tooling.
  • Experience supporting proofs of concept, pilot efforts, and controlled deployments in compliance-focused environments.
  • Familiarity with data quality monitoring, governance reporting, and enterprise approval workflows.

Interview Process

Video interview required and may include a technical assessment.

Candidates should be prepared to discuss:

  • their hands-on experience with Python, SQL, automation, and AI-enabled workflows
  • examples of prototypes, scripts, or automation solutions they have built
  • how they have applied AI capabilities in practical enterprise use cases
  • their experience working within regulated, secure, or governance-driven environments
